Trad Fest is a very welcome addition to New York’s cultural calendar. There are too many talented musicians playing Irish music for it not to have a wider audience. People like Tony Demarco, Eileen Ivers, Donny Golden and Joanie Madden, just to name a few. Bringing the audience in and letting them hear the music in its traditional setting is the ideal exposure to Irish culture. Keeping it real, local, raw and natural – brilliant. – Michael Flatley

Founded in 1986, City Lore’s mission is to foster New York City – and America’s – living cultural heritage through education and public programs. We work in four cultural domains: urban folklore and history, preservation, education, and grassroots poetry traditions. In each of these realms, we see ourselves as furthering cultural equity and modeling a better world with projects as dynamic and diverse as New York City itself. In a financial climate not always hospitable to grassroots and immigrant cultures, New York City’s distinctiveness is in danger of eroding, and our mission and our programs become more urgent each year.
