Augusta Irish/Celtic Week

July 22-27, Augusta Heritage Center of Davis & Elkins College, Elkins, West Virginia

Founded in 1982 by Dr. Mick Moloney, Augusta Heritage Center’s Irish/Celtic Week is the oldest week of its kind in the United States. For thirty years, we have consistently attracted the world’s finest instructors who immerse our students in the very best of Irish craft, folklore, music and dance. Students choose one subject and one instructor for intensive classes that meet each day in the morning and afternoon. Our numerous evening activities include sessions, ceili and set dances in Augusta’s beautiful open-air dance pavilion, and concerts featuring our staff on Tuesday & Thursday nights. Students may also sign up for optional evening mini-courses that offer the opportunity to explore additional interests. Anyone with a passion for traditional Irish culture will find Augusta a delightful and engrossing experience!

This year’s staff, assembled by new artistic director (and Mid Atlantic CCE PRO) Daniel Neely, includes Dylan Foley, Patrick Ourceau, Mick Conneely & Troy MacGillivray (fiddles); Ivan Goff & Brian Holleran (flutes); Dennis Cahill (guitar); Marla Fibish (mandolin); Pauline Conneely (banjo); Cillian Vallely (uilleann pipes); Máirtín de Cógáin (bodhran and storytelling mini-class); Joey Abarta (tin whistle); Donna Long (piano); Brían Ó hAirt & Jimmy Crowley (voice); Mick Mulkerrin (set dance); and Niall O’Leary (step dance).  This is an All-Ireland staff of champions, legends and luminaries – good teachers, good people and good craic!  Come join us this summer!
