The Killoran-Clancy Branch of Comhaltas Ceoltoiri Eireann

January 2012

Dear members of Comhaltas Ceoiltoiri Eireann,

The Killoran-Clancy Branch will honor the late John “Jack” Whelan on Sunday January 29, 2012. As of this date, the branch will proudly be called Killoran-Clancy-Whelan, as his name will be added as a way of showing thanks and acknowledgement for his many years of service, not only to our branch, but for all who loved Irish arts in the New York community. He was very dedicated and passionate about promoting Irish culture, particularly music and dance.

A perpetual cup will be dedicated in his memory, and will be awarded annually at the Mid-Atlantic Regional Fleadh Cheoil.

We were lucky to have him, and we are especially excited to host this very special tribute event at the Irish American Center in Mineola. Doors will be open from 4-8 and music will be provided by the Ceol na Croi ceili band from 4:30-7:30. We look forward to seeing all of those who can attend, and encourage any who may be unable to attend to send messages along to the Whelan Family, who will be present at this very special occasion.
