First performed to sell-out audiences over 10 years ago in Cork, Ireland, De Bogman is a comedy that defines the notion of postmodern Irish theater. Effortlessly blending physical comedy with the fine Irish tradition of storytelling, De Bogman is a riotous, rollicking journey following Declan who, from his humble origins as a village idiot in Ireland, emigrates to America to become World Heavyweight Boxing Champion.

A decade after its original performance, De Bogman is more relevant than ever as the personal and the political meet head on in this frantic and fast-paced tour de force of farcical theater. De Bogman has toured throughout Ireland and the UK, playing to sell-out audiences in over forty towns and cities and is set to take New York by storm this summer.

Declan is played by Máirtín de Cogáin is a member of Captain Mackey’s Goatskin and Stringband.  Performances run Tuesday through Saturday at 8pm; Sunday’s show is at 3pm.  The Irish Rep’s at 132 West 22nd Street, tickets for the show are $20 and the box office’s phone number is (212) 727-2737.  Or, click here to order tickets online!!
