PAULINE FITZPATRICK BENEFIT FUNDRAISER
Sunday, April 22, 2012 – 2:30 pm – 8:30 pm
St. Barnabas H.S. Cafeteria, 413 E. 241st St., Bronx
In November 2011 Pauline Fitzpatrick, then 44, from Eastchester, daughter of Eamon Fitzpatrick (Co. Antrim) and Tessie Fitzpatrick (Co. Monaghan), was diagnosed with Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS), a very rare neurological syndrome affecting only 1 in 100,000 people. Pauline became paralyzed and was placed on a respirator in ICU for two months. While in ICU she suffered a stroke, collapsed lung, respiratory failure, aphasia, apraxia and infections.
She has undergone intense physical therapy but faces a long and exhausting road to recovery as there is no known cure for GBS.
Unfortunately, due to insurance limitations, she will be discharged but will continue to need physical therapy, a nurse aide and medications to continue her fight to re-learn life’s basic skills, such as walking, talking.
Bring the whole family out for music, face painting, food, raffles, prizes, 50/50 and beverages (cash bar).
ENTERTAINMENT
*All of the musicians and dancers have generously donated their time.
