Special Thanks from Terry Rafferty

Terry Rafferty would like to thank the fleadh committee, the teachers, all the Hall of Fame members, the competitors, and the people who volunteered for making the event in Parsippany this past weekend such a roaring success.  She is looking forward to next year!

She would also like to extend a very special thanks to Helen Gannon and Paul Keating for their role they had in presenting her with the award for service and dedication to Comhaltas at the recent convention and wishes them both all the best.

Instrument Makers in Parsippany!

At the Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann North American convention in Parsippany, New Jersey this weekend (April 8 – 11, 2010), a number of instrument makers will be exhibiting their products, providing an opportunity to meet the makers and try out their instruments. As of right now we are expecting the following:

The Button Box – concertina

Frank Edgely – concertina

Jeff Thomas – concertina

Windward Flutes – flute

Rob Forbes – flute

Walt Sweet – flute

Jerry Freeman – whistle

In addition, Forbes and Yola Christie of Windward flutes will be offering on-site repairs, and will be donating a portion of the fees they receive for these services to the fund we have established to help young musicians travel to Ireland to compete in the All-Ireland Fleadh this summer.

The instruments makers will each have a hotel conference room from 7pm until the wee hours (or they run out of energy) on the coming Friday and Saturday night. Please stop by and pay them a visit.

For more information about the convention, try http://www.cceconvention2010.org

All the best,

Tom
